About Signal Box Studio
Signal Box founder Jake Kerr started with a story and a simple dream: Turn it into the serial stories that kept him on the edge of his seat in his youth. The result was The Thieves Guild, an epic fantasy story told in short serialized podcast episodes. Releasing a full drama podcast was too much for one person, and that led to Kerr building a platform that would automate every possible element of production beyond his passion: Writing stories. That became an end-to-end production studio that takes a script all the way to a finished, distributed episode — audio generation, mastering, artwork, and publishing — with no manual work at all.
With production solved, Kerr wanted to tell more of his own stories, and faster. That led him to the harder problem — generating the narrative itself — and, after years of development, to the second half of the platform: a system that takes a designed story and writes it.
Together, those halves are the Signal Box, the platform behind Signal Box Studio. The Signal Box takes Kerr's original idea and extends it into a modernized TV writers room: A group of human storytellers break the story together, then hand off the story beats and outline to be written and produced by AI and software. The final piece of Signal Box Studio is a roster of established authors like best-selling novelist Cassie Alexander, who bring finished books that need only production.
The result is a multi-imprint network — nine shows, a new chapter every day — run by one person and powered by sophisticated AI-driven software. In October of 2026, Kerr launched Signal Box Research, where lessons and discoveries from internal software development are shared with others. For writers who need help, Signal Box Studio also provides select tools for individual use at aiwritersworkbench.com.
